Thirties and beyond: four women who have stopped auditioning
The smallest page on the index and, by the account of guests who book here twice, the most underused. Nancy and Violetta are 30, Margo is 31 and Sonya is 32. All four have the ease of somebody who has been the calmest person in a room often enough to find it unremarkable.
What that buys is specific. Nothing has to be explained twice, no part of the evening is a performance, and the first twenty minutes are not spent working out whether either of you is going to be difficult.

Nancy is 170 cm, curvy, long golden blonde with blue eyes, and lives in Covent Garden five minutes from the theatre doors. Choral singing, crime novels and a late supper. She is warm from the first minute rather than the twentieth, which makes her the easiest first booking on the whole site.
Violetta is 178 cm, tall and slender, sleek black hair, in from Belgravia in twenty minutes. Opera, reading and river walks, and a manner that is formal on arrival and extremely dry by the second hour. Margo is 166 cm, slim, straight dark brown, fifteen minutes in from Knightsbridge. Riding, two newspapers a day and the formal dinners nobody else wants to face alone. Sonya is 162 cm, athletic, hazel eyed, twenty minutes in from Knightsbridge, and books her own car so that the arrival time is exact.
The rooms they are asked into
Westminster is Margo's district and the one that keeps hours nowhere else attempts. She suggests an early table before the division bell crowd arrives, asks for the names of everybody at it beforehand, and uses them correctly all night. Sonya covers Fitzrovia and will say in advance whether the evening involves anybody else at the table, because it changes what she reads before she leaves.
Piccadilly is a corridor rather than a destination, eight minutes end to end, and it is where Violetta and Nancy most often cross the zone to get somewhere. Violetta starts on a terrace by the river and is four minutes from the Aldwych hotels.
What a longer evening gets you
All four are better after the second hour and three of them say so unprompted. Margo is plain about it: she is better after two hours and so, in her experience, is everybody else. Sonya is a long dinner and a real conversation and is wasted on ninety minutes.
Which is why this is the page to read if you are booking three hours at £700 or four at £900 rather than an hour. The ladder rewards it too, since every rung undercuts the one above it, and a four hour evening with any of these four costs less per hour than a short one.
